Planetrism game universe has detailed background and histories in technology, sociology, cultures and other aspects of human society. By the year 2242 humankind has been spreading to the stars to seek out natural resources and study terraforming. Core worlds – Earth, Mars, Lunar cities and Titan are overpopulated. Earth itself is barely habitable due to pollution and global warming. Natural resources are low.

Naturally, nations and megacorporations sought new places to live, new places for resources. Some still have plans to reverse the ecocatastrophe on Earth by terraforming. Solution to all this was development of QT-Drive which enables faster-than-light travelling. New colonies were established on faraway planets. Those colonists seek out minerals and other natural resources, but also perform scientific studies and experiments in terraforming while trying to build a better future for themselves.

Player has a clear goal in game – to build a better, stable place to live for him and his fellow colonists. But there are many obstacles on the path leading to that goal. Constant struggle with environment, maintaining inadequate equipment, physical and psychological stress. Daily life is full of burdening tasks, and failing to fulfill them could mean death at worst. Player needs all his skills and wits to succeed.

In addition, those exoplanets often contain many surprises. New lifeforms that sometimes prove dangerous. Strange phenomena. Hostile or extremely hazardous environments. And behind that all, there always lurks the greed of human nature. What was promised as a new paradise may turn out to be constant struggle for survival.
